Cat is a creature type used for felines. In Magic, the term refers to both regular cats, as well as other feline creatures (some endowed with sapience), such as lions and tigers. Ape is a creature type used for cards depicting great apes (orangutans, gorillas, and chimpanzees, but not humans).
